New Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40

Sturdy vehicles are necessary whether it's construction, farming or to tow a trailer. Pickup trucks play a significant part in the lives of millions of people for their occupation and spare time. Several pickup truck owners depend on diesel engines to supply the power, torque and dependability they need. Owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks can now take pleasure in all of the advantages of synthetic motor oil with the protection offered by API CJ-4 motor oil… the introduction of Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 motor oil!

Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 gives large enhancements in wear safety, filth control, deposit control, heat resistance and protection in severe climates like winter and summer. The motor oil can supply superior fuel economy against conventional 15W-40 motor oil as well. Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 meets or surpasses API CJ-4 qualifications.

"In seven out of seven standard engine tests that measure wear, compared to the previous formulation, Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 has demonstrated an average of 34 percent improvement in wear (ranging from 2 percent to 90 percent), with substantially improved protection against cylinder liner wear. This is a significant benefit when a truck is used for low-speed operations, such as hauling heavy loads," says Walt Silveira, North American Technical Manager for Shell Lubricants.

"Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 offers better flow through a cold engine compared to conventional motor oil," said Silveira. "With advanced fuel and ignition controls that reduce the time it takes to start your engine, the oil flow in your engine at start-up is critical. Synthetic motor oil also gives faster oil flow to the upper deck of the engine to provide the protection it needs."

Teenager Recognized With National Award For Safe Teen Driving Efforts

Anyone of us can make a difference; including the young ones. Being a role model or a great example to the members of the community doesn’t require age limit or whatever. One of the best examples to date is a young girl from Minnesota. Here’s her story…

Natalie Hayford, 16, of Andover, Minn., has been chosen to be the recipient of The Allstate Foundation's inaugural "Teen Activist of the Year Award" for her dedication and leadership role in encourage teens to drive safely.

"I take activism very seriously, and it's a big part of my life. I love helping others and encouraging positive choices in my peers, and I feel very lucky to be rewarded for something I love. The prize is a tribute to the hard working members of my Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) chapter as well, who worked with me on the activities. I hope to continue to convey safe driving habits for years to come," says the teenager Hayford.

Hayford stood up from a collection of brilliant teen activists from across the country to receive a $10,000 cash award from The Allstate Foundation. The cash prize Hayford won will be placed into a college fund. The honored teen chose the Anoka High School SADD chapter to accept an extra $5,000 grant in her honor offered by The Allstate Foundation to carry on youth safety efforts.

"Teens have the power to positively influence their peers and communities and ultimately curb teen driving deaths. We are so impressed by the meaningful advocacy work America's teens engaged in during 2007, but Hayford truly went above and beyond in working to raise awareness for this critical issue. We hope more teens will follow her lead," says David Prendergast, assistant field vice president of Allstate's Midwest Region.

C30: The Sexy Swede

What to you is sexy? For me, Volvo C30 writes the meaning of the word sexy all over its body. Call it sporty. Call it vivacious. But I call it sexy.

Swedes have the reputation of ingenuity and hard work which are evidenced by a smorgasbord of milestones including the invention of the propeller, Nicklas Lidstrom, dynamite, and more. Nowadays, the latest is the C30 from Volvo Cars.

The C30 is a slice of the future of compacts – compact, high-performance, and elegant. The drawback though, is that it’s pretty much pricey. Scott Burgess of the Detroit News has this to say: “The C30 Version 1.0 starts at a reasonable $23,445, including destination charges, but the price jumps nearly as fast as my grocery bill when I add a couple bottles of Akvavit and Absolut. My Version 2.0 model, which I tested for a week in January, had a starting MSRP of $26,445 and window sticker over $30,000 for the four-person compact.”

Do you think the price is too much? Not I guess if you experience the car. Add in the reputation, finesse, and impunity ride. The C30 offers a lot of lures and Volvo sells it to you.

Fast and nimble, the C30 gives any owner more fun for what he paid for. “While testing the C30, I often found myself wanting to take corners a little faster each day. The five-cylinder 2.5-liter turbo-charged engine offers slightly more torque than horsepower, adding to its spirited ride. Producing 227 horses and 236 pound-feet of torque (both at 5,000 rpm), the engine provides push-you-back-in-your-seat pickup,” added Burgess.

One downside that aficionados would consider is the premium fuel which it requires. The car gets 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Yes, the car is faster than it looks. You think it’s demure. But it’s hot on the roads.

Allstate Survey Reveals Teens Wants Friends to be Safe on the Road

Road accidents claim between 5,000 and 6,000 teen lives each year that is according to the survey conducted by the Allstate Insurance. The survey also reveals that a great number of teens do not take personal responsibility for safe driving and still continues to engage in dangerous activities.

Surprisingly 90 percent of the teens surveyed said that they hope their friends will be safe on the road in 2008 while only 11 percent of the teens surveyed included “driving more safely” on their personal New Year’s resolutions. Also one-third of the teens surveyed have reported that they fear riding with careless driver.

And to further help strengthen teen drivers’ commitment to road safety, Allstate has created an Interactive Parent-Teen Driving Contract which is a useful tool for parents and teenagers in developing a more meaningful dialogue on safe and responsible driving.

The contract can also bring accountability to teens and parents in reinforcing their responsibility as passengers and drivers.

The survey was designed and conducted by TRU which is a youth-research specialist that polled 917 teens with age ranging from 16 to 18. The survey was conducted online to refrain from any bias that adult administered surveys usually have. The sample is representative of the online US teen population of whom 93% are online users; the survey has also a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percent points in total at the 95% confidence level. The survey runs through December 7 to 14, 2007.

Chevrolet’s KITTY Solution to Forgetful Car Owners

Its seems a lot of people in Britain are inflicted with Alzheimer's disease metaphorically speaking of course, this was after a research conducted shows that over five and a half million motorists or one in five say that they lose their car at least once a fortnight with each driver spending at least 5 hours and 13 minutes a year searching for it.  And one out of four drivers has even considered reporting their car as stolen after spending more than hour searching for it.

Thanks to Chevrolet and its KITTY short for Key Innovation That Talks to You, British drivers will no longer have problems searching where they parked their cars.  KITTY is a handy handbag-sized remote controlled talking alert that allows the car to shout a personalized message to its forgetful owner provided of course the owner has not forgotten the private message that it has with its car because that would pose another problem.

According to research drivers in the North West are the most forgetful losing their cars at an average of 14 times a year followed by Scottish motorists with 13 times a year, and Londoners with 12 times a year. The motorists from the East Midland are least forgetful losing cars 7 times a year.

According to Susan Kalair of Chevrolet: "Drivers waste so much valuable shopping time searching for their misplaced cars and up until now there hasn't been any real solution to the problem. Hopefully our talking car will solve the problem – and give Christmas shoppers more time to hit the shelves – by helping people remember exactly where they left their car."

The new KITTY is to be tested in a number of cars this coming Christmas shopping period. The device has range of 183 meters. Chevrolet has used MyVoice an independent online research company that surveyed a cross section of 1,000 UK drivers across the country. But for the development of KITTY the automaker has partnered with Loc8tor, a company that specializes in handheld tracking devices.

League of most forgetful motorists (sourced from The Auto Channel):

North West – average motorist loses their car 13.8 times

Scotland –13 times London – 12 times

Midlands – 11 times

• North East – 10 times

• South West – 10 times

• South East – 10 times

• Wales – 8 times

East Anglia – 7 times

Mazda to expand in China

Mazda Motor Corp., a one-third Ford Motor Co. owned Japanese automotive manufacturer, has been considering plans to expand in China, the world’s second largest auto market. The plans will be part of anticipating a leap in sales to 80 percent by 2008. A senior executive said that the expectation is more than double of its dealership network in the market.

According to Kiyoshi Ozaki, head of Mazda’s Chinese business, Mazda’s plans include the expansion of its web of car dealers across the huge but hyper-competitive market, from 104 at present to 220 by April 2008.

Ozaki said that Mazda is planning to have 180,000 vehicles sold within 2008, moving more than 100,000 units in the current year. But, he did not provide historical comparisons. Even the company did not give country-specific sales figures. There also did not declare any plans regarding future investments in China, which has the world’s fourth largest economy.

Considering its various partnerships, Mazda has an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles in China. However, it isn’t yet fully utilized.

Mazda along with its largest shareholder Ford are scrambling to expand in the market, taking into account the fierce competition and over-capacity. It has sparked a years-long price war that has squeeze profit margins.

In fact, Mazda together with its local partner First Automobile Works, last August, have cut the price of Chinese-made Mazda6 wagons by almost 20 per cent in the southern province of Guangdong.

China is really in its rapid growth. Multinational players were able to feel it through achieving impressive recent sales improvement. The overall Chinese vehicle sales rose 24 percent in the first 10 months of the year at 7.15 million units. Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, a three-way tie-up between Ford, Mazda and Changan Automobile Co Ltd., got 150,365 vehicles sold within those months, showing 59 per cent sales growth.

To cope with the anticipated further growth of the market, Ford and its partners have unveiled a $510 million vehicle manufacturing plant in the eastern city of Nanjing, near Shanghai. With it, the annual production capacity of Ford will be boosted to over 410,000 units in the country.

New BMW Models and Concept Cars at the Middle East Motor Show

BMW Group Middle East has recently showcased six sizzling new models and concept cars at the 9th International Middle East Motor Show. The event was the first time the region was introduced to the BMW Concept CS, BMW Concept X6 and the new BMW M3 Coupe.

According to BMW Group Middle East Managing Director Phil Horton, "At BMW Group we are heavily investing in the future of our company – all over the world, customer demands are ever increasing. They want cars that are cleaner and more economical, but also more powerful and dynamic. In the Middle East these demands are reflected and magnified."

In the event, Horton said, "The blooming economic environment is driving a great swell of optimism which has pushed the premium car segment to grow even faster than the overall market. At BMW we are obviously already well placed to meet these customer aspirations. Today we are proud to introduce three new models to the region, which can only enhance our strong reputation for producing the best luxury sports saloons in the world."

Horton also said, "In line with the motor for all BMW M vehicles – engineered on the racetrack, built for the road – the tradition holds true for the fourth generation BMW M3 Coupe. This car boasts a V8 engine with 420 hp and accelerates from 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds."

"The BMW Concept X6 shows what the very near future will bring – combining true BMW dynamics with dramatic styling and twin turbo power. This vehicle represents a completely new automotive concept: the first Sports Activity Coupe," he added.

Revealing the MINI Clubman and the new MINI Challenge, Horton said, "We are expecting the MINI family further with the introduction of the Clubman, which offers 21st Century state-of-art technologies in all its details and features. The MINI Challenge is also due for arrival in the Middle East in Q3 2008."

Above all, the exclusive BMW Concept CS stood up as the real star in the show. Its significance even brought BMW Group's Director of Design Mr. Adrian Van Hooydonk to fly from the headquarters of BMW Group in Munich.

Hooydonk has provided insight regarding the evolutionary development of BMW's design language. He said, "As the head of the BMW brand design team, we always strive to design and produce evolutionary concepts that reflect the aspirations of our customers."

Hooydonk also said, "The BMW Concept CS, BMW Concept X6 and new M3 Coupe are three unique cars that further strengthen the position of BMW in the premium car segment. The new CS in particular is a concept and design study which consciously looks into the future. It is the vision of a car which combines superior dynamism and stylish exclusivity in perfection – it comes as a brand-new vehicle concept in the luxury class."

I could already foresee that those models will further boost BMW's sales in the country, considering that they are all well-engineered to sustain the demands in the market.
